Singapore startup Toripu to expand in Vietnam

Singapore based start-up Toripu has announced plans to expand its management and operations team into the Vietnam market.

The company offers an online platform where travellers will be able to search and book their holiday drivers. Travellers will be able to, based on their budget and preferences, select the type of cars and drivers. The app is expected to be launched by June 2019 in both Singapore and Vietnam.

The expansion into Vietnam is to target the increasing volume of tourists, providing them a comfortable and personalized way of travelling. The company is setting up its business and technology office in Ho Chi Minh city and is currently expanding its management team. The company will also be recruiting drivers in Vietnam to join them on the platform.

“Toripu, which means “Trip” Romanized from Japanese. We aim to be the first ground travel booking platform to aggregate holiday drivers in the region,” says Shaun Wu, COO of Toripu. “The platform will connect international travellersto local drivers, allowing bookings in advance.”

We believe Vietnam will play a strategic role in our expansion into other South-East Asian countries. Travelling patterns and styles have changed rapidly throughout the years. More travelers are seeking a more personal and private overseas holiday experience. We aim to fill this gap and play a part in boosting the region’s tourism via the platform,” Wu adds.
