Job postings in Singapore declined by 2.7% in April, marking the fourth consecutive monthly drop and bringing posting volumes to their lowest level since May 2021. Compared to a year ago, postings are down 16.6% and are approximately 41% below their pandemic-era peak.
New data from Indeed reveals that growth in logistics support job postings has moderated, from 10.9% in March to 5.9% in April. Meanwhile, demand for data analytics professionals surged, moving from fourth to second place among top-performing job categories. The trend suggests that companies are increasingly prioritising data-driven insights to navigate uncertainty and drive smarter decision-making.
Despite the prolonged downward trend, overall job posting levels remain robust, standing 41% above pre-pandemic levels. This sustained strength underscores a labour market that continues to support low unemployment rates, with job creation still outpacing workforce needs in most sectors.
Callam Pickering, Indeed’s APAC Senior Economist, said: “While job creation in Singapore is gradually cooling, the labour market remains resilient. Low unemployment and persistent skill shortages suggest underlying strength—but many businesses are holding their breath in a world clouded by economic and geopolitical uncertainty.”
Job postings in almost every sector remain above their pre-pandemic baseline, with postings in 14% of sectors more than double pre-pandemic levels. Some of the most severe skill shortages have eased, highlighted by the declining share of sectors where postings are double pre-pandemic levels, but overall employer demand remains elevated across most sectors
Mixed growth across occupations
Recent job posting trends reveal a mixed picture across occupational categories. Approximately one in five saw gains over the past three months.
Notable increases were recorded in personal care and home health (+29%), data analytics (+9.5%), and industrial engineering (+6.9%). Logistic support (+5.9%) and mechanical engineering (+5.1%) also posted solid growth.
However, these gains were offset by sharper declines in several categories, including cleaning and sanitation (-56%), childcare (-39%), pharmacy (-39%), and driving (-26%).
Singapore holding steady in global context
Relative to international peers, Singapore’s job posting trends remain favourable. While recent declines are notable, the country continues to outperform several advanced economies. Job postings in countries such as the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Canada have now fallen below pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, the United States hovers just above its baseline.
Singapore continues to track closely with Australia and Spain, though it trails behind faster-growing markets like India and Italy. Nonetheless, the nation remains well-positioned to weather a more challenging economic outlook.
