Shaw Theatres now offers movie ticket purchases on the Google Pay Singapore app. This partnership comes against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereby seamless contactless transactions are preferred. Shaw Theatres customers can do so from the convenience of their homes or any location.

“This is a timely partnership as contactless payments are fast becoming the preferred mode of payment, especially during the current pandemic. Not only are we able to offer our guests a fast and convenient transaction process, Google Pay offers our patrons another contactless payment option and thus greater peace of mind,” said Mr. Mark Shaw, Director of Shaw Organisation Group of Companies.

“Singaporeans love going to the movies and we are excited to build a piece of that experience into the new Google Pay Singapore app to make digital payments more helpful,” said Mahesh Bhalerao, Director of Next Billion Users and APAC Payments Ecosystem Partnerships at Google.

“Having Shaw Theatres join us in our journey to create a secure and seamless mobile payment platform is invaluable as it helps to enhance the existing lifestyle features for Singaporeans. We hope that people will appreciate its ease of use as we continue to deliver more fun and rewarding payment experiences for all.”

Shaw Theatres customers can now download the Google Pay mobile app onto their IOS or Android devices to make instant movie ticket purchases. They can simply choose their favourite seats and pay for tickets for any Shaw Theatres location in the app and then use their phone to present the tickets at the selected theatre.
